Benefits of using compact cars

A compact car is usually one which is larger than a sub-compact car and bigger than a mid-sized one. In many European countries, it is referred to as C-Segment cars. Some of the best new compact cars available in the market include Honda Civic, Buick Verano, Toyota Plus, Volkswagen GTI, Chevrolet Volt, Nissan Leaf, etc. just to name a few. These cars usually range in size from the 3,900mm to 4,700mm.

History of compact cars
Although small cars were not the craze of the early American automobile market, the first compact car was built in the 1930s. The Austin Bantam is probably the first of the compact cars although it was met with high reception. By the 1950s, new compact cars had become a household thing. An important mention here would be the Nash Rambler convertible model which was probably the first American one of the first new compact cars that received much market appreciation.

Benefits of compact cars
With the onset of the 21st century, fuel prices have undergone a sharp hike, and this has been a prime reason why new compact cars have once again become part of the rage. Most new compact cars provide a better mileage than the bigger ones and are also less costly.

Another huge advantage of owning a new compact car is that it has high resale value. So if you are uncertain about how long you will want to own this car, you can still go ahead and get it because you can probably sell it back in a few years.

There are a lot of used car dealers around so you can also choose to get a used compact car for a very cheap price. Due to their size, new compact cars are also easy to maneuver and make sure you don’t have to look for extra space in the parking lot.

However, there are some drawbacks to new compacts cars. You cannot load them up with cargo. You also cannot take them off-road. These are, however, minor considerations and do take anything away from the fact that new compact cars are some of the best vehicles for economical transportation.
