The world we are living in currently is running at a very fast pace and it is upon each of us to catch up with it and live each passing moment. It is highly recommended for people above the age of 40 years with no problems in blood pressure to get this test done at least once in every five years in order to rule out any potential problems. However, people suffering with blood pressure fluctuations are at a higher risk of associated problems and need to get these tests done more frequently.

Blood pressure test is usually done with an instrument called sphygmomanometer. A stethoscope, arm cuff, dial and pump are usually the parts of this device. However, automatic devices loaded with sensors which are capable of digitally displaying your blood pressure are used nowadays.

It is important to keep your blood pressure in control and not let it drop too low or build too high. Both the extremities have their own terrible consequences and hence, it is important to know your blood pressure and how to put a check on it accordingly. To control blood pressure, it is important to maintain a balanced and healthy diet with low levels of salt intake. Regular exercise is a must for a healthy body and helps in maintaining an optimum blood pressure. It would be advised to stay away from smoking and alcohol consumption.
