Cisplatin
Cisplatin is the common drug used for chemotherapy, and it also helps to treat numerous forms of cancer. With the help of this drug, the cancerous cells destroyed, thus avoiding their multiplication. The Cisplatin is injected into the patient’s body within a time period of 3 to 4 weeks. If the condition is worse, then the dosage of this medicine is increased. Several side effects of this drug include paleness of the skin, severe bruises, bleeding in gums, weakness, feeling sick, and damage to the kidney.
Doxorubicin (Adriamycin)
The chemotherapy drug Doxorubicin is famed by its brand name which is Adriamycin. This drug is helpful in treating various kind of cancer. The role of this drug is to slow down the growth rate of the cancer cells present in the body by blocking the enzyme named as topoisomerase.
The cancerous cells grow with the help of this enzyme. The common side effects of Doxorubicin (Adriamycin) are hair loss, sore mouth, being sick most of the time, change in the color of urine to red or pink, loss of appetite, fever, liver damage, bleeding gums, and diarrhea. On the other hand, this drug is very effective as it cures the liver cancer rapidly.
